Πώς μια γυναίκα εικονογράφος και δημιουργός comics επιτυγχάνει σε μία ανδροκρατούμενη βιομηχανία; Πώς μετατρέπεις το πάθος σου σε επάγγελμα; Πώς γίνεσαι η εικονογράφος με τις υψηλότερες πωλήσεις των New York Times; Η γνωστή δημιουργός Colleen Doran θα απαντήσει στις παραπάνω ερωτήσεις και σε πολλά άλλα, σε μία ιδιαίτερη παρουσίαση της δουλειάς της απο την Athens Comics Library και την Αμερικανική Πρεσβεία στην Ελλάδα την Τετάρτη 7 Απριλίου, 19.00-20.00μμ.
Η Colleen Doran θα συζητήσει για το έργο της, την τεχνική της, αλλά και την εμπειρία της σαν μια από τις πρώτες γυναίκες δημιουργούς στη βιομηχανία των κόμικς, συμπεριλαμβανομένης της δουλειάς της σε μικρότερους εκδοτικούς οίκους, αλλά και στις Marvel και DC Comics, καθώς και τις συνεργασίες της με κορυφαίους συγγραφείς όπως οι Neil Gaiman και Margaret Atwood. Η παρουσίαση θα είναι στα αγγλικά και θα ακολουθήσει χρόνος για ερωτήσεις από το κοινό.
Η διάλεξη θα πραγματοποιηθεί μέσω της σελίδας Facebook της Athens Comics Library και θα είναι στα αγγλικά. Δεν απαιτείται προεγγραφή.
Ως μέρος της συνεργασίας της με την Αμερικανική Πρεσβεία και την Athens Comics Library, η Colleen Doran θα παρουσιάσει το εργαστήριο “Writing and Drawing Comics” την Πέμπτη 8 Απριλίου 19.00-20.30μμ. Το εργαστήριο απευθύνεται κυρίως σε γυναίκες από την τοπική και την προσφυγική κοινότητα με ενδιαφέρον για την εικονογράφηση, τα comics και την οπτική αφήγηση. Το εργαστήριο θα καλύψει μία σειρά θεμάτων όπως: η δημιουργική διαδικασία και η θεωρία της δημιουργικής αφήγησης, διαφορετικοί μέθοδοι γραφής, εκδόσεις και επικοινωνία. Θα υπάρχει ταυτόχρονη μετάφραση σε ελληνικά και φαρσί για τις συμμετέχουσες.
Οι θέσεις είναι περιορισμένες και απαιτείται προεγγραφή μέσω της παρακάτω φόρμα.

How does a female comic artist break through a male dominated industry? How do you turn your passion into a profession? How do you become a New York Times bestselling cartoonist? Celebrated American cartoon artist Colleen Doran will answer these questions and many more during a special presentation organized by the Athens Comics Library and the U.S. Embassy in Greece, on Wednesday, April 7, 19.00-20.00.
Colleen Doran will share insights on her work, her creative process, and her experiences in the comics industry – including working with Marvel Comics and DC Comics, as well as creating illustrations for top writers like Neil Gaiman and Margaret Atwood. She will also answer questions from the audience.
The event is free and open to the public and will be broadcast on the Athens Comics Library facebook page. The event will be in English and there is no registration required.
As part of her collaboration with the U.S. Embassy and the Athens Comics Library, Colleen Doran will also lead a “Writing and Drawing Comics” workshop for female participants, both local and refugees, on Thursday, April 8, 19.00-20.30. This workshop will cover a range of topics including: the creative process and storytelling theory; different styles of writing, art, and storytelling; and getting noticed and published. There will be translation available to Greek and Farsi for participants.
